It sort of gives you a reference point, even though the stories don't have any of the same characters and the setting is completely different. It IS funny, and an absolute joy to read, but in a way, he kind of explores the same power dynamics he delves into in "Alpha Male." I really think that if you're going to read "Control," you should read "Alpha Male" first. It's nicely done, but I consider "Control and KAOS" his crowning achievement. He's also got another story buried in the high school section called "Modern History," an allegorical retelling of the Stonewall riots. I don't like Authoritarian stories, but this one is, first of all, by David Buffett, so it totally deserves to be read, and second, it's more about relationship and power dynamics between men (and women.) It's not the jewel that "Control and KAOS" is, but it's interesting, and suprisingly thought-provoking. ![]() David Buffett has a story in the Authoritarian section, called "Alpha Male," which is definitely worth a read. Totally one of my all-time favorite stories.
